Clandestine Soul

Documentary / 100 min /  2018 / Brasil

Maria Auxiliadora Lara Barcellos was a political activist who fought against the Brazilian dictatorship in the 1960s. She was arrested, tortured, banished and ended up committing suicide in exile in Berlin in 1976. The documentary is a sensory and emotional biography, with unpublished letters , but also a dive into the dark corners of a soul, which was, for the most part, clandestine.

Thais Nepomuceno researched the story in Berlin, doing location scout from her personal records and researched for archive material from Dora.
